Race team ventured to the Deep South to compete in APBA’s Winter Nationals at Jessup, GA. A large group made the trip including Tony Anderson and his brother Terry. Regular team members, Charley Holman, John Ruff, Len Miller and drivers Braxton and Rick Miller, all made the trip of over thousand miles. Set up was Thursday and racing started Friday when Braxton, Sylvie and Patrick Kane arrived by air from Tulsa.
The mechanical bug bit us, as our motors developed unusual problems and one driver ran into the back of Braxton’s 500 hydro which knocked him out of competition. The crew pulled together to repair motors for Saturday’s races. Braxton drove to wins in 350 runabout, 500 and 350 hydro classes. He had a first place heat win in 500 runabout but had fuel problem in the other heat. He was the high point winner in the weekend of 400 hydro with 2 second places. He was the high point winner for the weekend. Rick had a 3rd place heat place but had engine problems the second heat.
Race team will be traveling to Clarksville AR for their first NBRA.
